ABOUT ME // MY PHILOSOPHY

My name is Sofia, but everyone calls me Sophie. I'm a 29 years old visual communication designer from Uruguay. In 2014 I left my hometown to travel around Europe with a bunch of friends. I fell in love with Amsterdam the moment I first visited it, and decided to stay there for a while. I moved to Berlin one year later and lived there for two years, and started freelancing doing what I love the most: visual communication design. That allows me to travel almost all the time now, mainly between Montevideo and Amsterdam. And every time I come back to any of them both it actually feels like going back home.

I like to say there are no rules of 'how to live your life properly'. Every one of us is unique and special. So we should choose to do what we really love and don't care about how much 'better than others' we are by doing it.

As a designer, my main resource is my own creativity. Then, I only need my pens and some papers -and my computer and a wifi connection, who am I kidding? ;) -. Being a freelancer allows me to work from wherever I want, and they say the more you travel the more you’re inspired, right? I also choose to live with very little possessions, so when I travel I don’t need that much stuff either. It’s very easy then to build a temporary base in a place I love and travel to cities and countries nearby. It allows me to continue working and have a “home” to go back to, but at the same time conquer more of what is out there.

I enjoy a healthy balance of working a few hours a day and then exploring the city I'm in, rather than taking long holidays completely off work. So basically, I'm in an all-year-round working holiday.

I'd love to know as much of the world as I can. I love meeting people from the cities I visit, so they can show me their culture and how they really live and not only the touristic spots of the city.

兴趣

Design and music are my life. Every time I arrive to a new city, I check for local concerts or festivals to go to.

Another thing I love doing is pet sitting. I really miss my babies (Marilyn -chihuahua-, Grace, Marlene & Coco -cats-) back home in Uruguay. So, whenever someone needs me, I can help them out and at the same time get me some pet love.
