Couchsurfing is a wonderful invention for cultural exchange. Peder and I have hosted a lot of people in Oslo and surfed with others in Europe, and the experiences we have had are all positive. We've made a lot of new friends this way and learned many fascinating things about history, beer and culture.
This is a great way to travel without feeling like a generic tourist.
