ABOUT ME

I have had a very turbulent development. Since the day I was born I have never gone more the six months without getting on a plane. This is due to my incredibly mobile family. I am multicultural and thus have always had a high degree of cultural awareness. My mother is of Jewish eastern European descent and my father is mestizo, born and raised in Mexico City. The spectrum of my existence has been expanding at a progressive rate since before I can remember. I spent my childhood in university housing while my mom pursued her Ph.D at UCLA. This resulted in most of my friends being foreigners or other multicultural people. Of course my parents split when I was two and for me traveling across distances has always been a given. I was raised in different households and in different languages. In addition two of my grandparents are world renowned academics in whole language education and their traveling tendencies have cascaded down to influence my life immensely. My mother is an epidemiologist and her career has led her from Los Angeles USA, to Pasto Colombia, to Houston USA, and finally to Edmonton Canada where she is currently working at the University of Alberta. My father is an MD graduated from UNAM and his career has led him from various cities in Mexico, to Los Angeles USA, to Barcelona Spain, to Madrid Spain, and he is currently practicing general medicine in Valencia, Spain. My parents took divergent paths in pursuing their individual goals. One characteristic of my life that came as a result was moving every year for eight consecutive years during my adolescence. That combined with the friends and family that I have spread around the globe, combined with my lust for new experiences has set the pace of my life. It is impossible for me to stay in one place for an extended period of time and i have also found it very difficult to live in one place for a long time. I have concluded that my only option is to keep moving and to find a job that allows me to do so. I have recently graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. My undergraduate degree is interdisciplinary with a title that I created for myself: Globalization and World Development.

PHILOSOPHY

Im still trying to work this one out. I try to maintain a basic principle of analysis and adaptation in my quest to observe all facets of existence. There is also definitely something that I am searching for. I just have no idea what it might be.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tend to do a lot of crashing with family and friends. Anytime I go on a trip I try to work in at least a couple of places. Its more to maintain the relationships then save money, but of course the economic benefit is an aspect that helps me a lot because im always doing the budget thing. This past July I railed around Europe with a buddy, saw some family, saw some friends. When I move around "domestically" I crashed at friends places or friends of friends or with family or friends of family. When I move around "Internationally" I do the same thing when I can, which is often enough. Its always a good time. I am still awaiting my first couchsurfing experience though.

Well traveling obviously. But I guess thats a given. I really like art; creating it, observing it, living it. Im into all kinds of sports; Rugby, futbol, swimming, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Tai, Vale Tudo, Shooto, CSW. I also enjoy acting and theater. I think that intellectual debate is great way to pass the time. Sarcasm and wit are valuable attributes. I like nature and wilderness environments where a person can appreciate the raw essence of life. I also marvel at urban society and the complexity of people with the potential to produce incredible things. I am also automatically interested in anything that I dont understand.
