About Me
I joined couchsurfing almost 20 years ago, and still think it's as powerful an idea today as it was then!
Old school hospitality, community building, and generosity of spirit are how things were supposed to be.
Couchsurfing notes:
- I usually say No to requests less than 10 days away
- I do not accept generic requests, please add some context - it shows you're interested in the person you're reaching out to and establishes some context for connection.
- I normally don't requests from people without at least 1 verification method, and, 3 references. If you need to build references, first invite people to coffee only, have a nice time, then ask them to leave you a reference.
CURRENT MISSION: To avoid living in a hostel environment...
Professionally, I've done a lot: served in the Navy, worked at Facebook, done various consulting (and volunteer) gigs for physical and cyber security.
Recent interests over the last few years: nutrition, weight loss, fitness, depth psychology.
Older interests of mine: long distance running, humanitarian technology, philosophy, deep discussions, mountain biking, snowboarding, acroyoga.
I've traveled to 8 different countries, went SCUBA diving in Hawaii, rappelling in Vermont, eaten fancy dates with a government minister in Oman, sailed in the Atlantic, worked at a humanitarian drone startup featured on the BBC, and lots of other things.
I love: my niece and nephews, meeting new people, trying new kinds of ethnic food, exploring new places, swing and salsa dancing, traveling.
Favorite quotes:
Imagination is more important thank knowledge. - Albert Einstein
Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. - Howard Thurman
