About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Danser ma vie: Drink a full cup of life, try a strange and fun thing or two.

ABOUT ME

I can't hope to know myself but I wouldn't mind getting to knowing that 'don't know'.

However it would be safe to say that I'm a pretty fun, pretty open type. I love new ideas and new experiences; I love interesting conversations. Usually I'm energetic but I also love being alone, even for long periods.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Early in 2009 someone moved onto the floor of my flatmate's room, she introduced herself as "Georg's weird friend." She stayed with us for two whole months, although she didn't do a lot of staying put. She had just arrived in my hometown but already she knew more about what was going on there than I did, where the free yoga classes where, what were the best spots to go dumpster diving, and all sorts of cool stuff. How did she land in Reykjavik, running so fast? So well connected? Well, through couchsurfing, ofcourse.

I immediately sensed that this was something I had to try.

And now two years later I've hosted a few people and been hosted well, two times. Hah. But I have continued my habit of crashing on my friends sofas all over Europe and some of those people I met indirectly through couchsurfing. So I guess I can chalk that up as CS experience.

Interests

I like dancing and cooking and long walks and film festivals and people who are really into something cool and fresh ideas and swimming pools and ocean swimming and weird theme parties and music and reading and learning something new. In fact I'm doing all this right now, especially the dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm reading Enki Bilal's Sommeil du monstre right now. I love J.M.Coetzee's Disgrace and Halldór Kiljan Laxnes' Kristnihald undir jökli.

My favorite romantic costume drama is Martha Fiennes' Onegin. I just rewatched Playtime by Jacques Tati, that's one solid movie. I tried watching Faust by Jan Svankmajer last week, that was super irritating and I stopped watching after what felt like five hours but turned out to be less than an hour. I've really enjoyed some of his short-form work, though.

My newest favorite band ever is The Very Best. I hate lists like these but I also love Bill Calahan, Caravan Palace, John Dowland, Bo Kasper Orkester, Arvo Pärt, Dirty Projectors, Boris Kovac, Japandroids, Shantel, Jacques Loussier and Orchestra Baobab.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking the pilgrimage road to Santiago was amazing, a whole month without entering a vehicle. Was also reading some nice anarchist literature at the time which destroyed my life as I then knew it. Fun stuff.

P.S. I've settled down since- don't be afraid.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always eager to pick up new skills.

I'm a bit stumped about what I can teach to others, though, I must start sticking with things so I build a teachable skillset.

I love to share recipes and ideas for food.
