About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work in progress.

ABOUT ME

My name is Jai, I am 28 year old and a lover of life. I'm easy going and enjoy meeting new people. I have a fiancée of almost 3 years. I enjoy laughing, but be warned, I don't hold back on laugh volume. I love music, I play drums whenever I can and am trying to learn some songs on guitar. I like to dance like no one is looking despite it almost never being the case. And boardgames. I am an avid and slightly competitive boardgamer. I have been learning a bunch of new skills lately and hope to continue honing those skills in the future. I love learning new languages (it's a bit hard as an Aussie sometimes), I hope to pick up quite a bit in the near future. When traveling I walk/hike a lot. I think I generally come back from holidays fitter than I was when I left. I and some housemates hosted several couchsurfers during a couple of years while I was at university but I haven't had the opportunity to host much since then. Hopefully it will be my turn to surf now as I plan on spending a year or so travelling Europe and Africa! I will be travelling with my fiancée (the girl with the red hair in some of my photos). Megan (her name) is an environmental engineer and has a passion for sustainability and environmentalism. Loves reading and listening to folk /folk pop/ folk rock. Anything folky really. She is polite and fun loving, perhaps a little more reserved than I am (however that's a high bar to jump over to begin with). We hope to meet many new lovely people during our travels! Please host us!

PHILOSOPHY

Get as much out of life while i still can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about this from friends, but my housemates are the people who inspired me to sign up. After having hosted several couchsurfers I now hope to see the other side of the coin and am trying surfing for the first time

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am proud to say I now have hosted many couchsurfers with varying degrees of input. Sometimes my housemates invited someone to stay and I barely saw them, sometimes I invited someone to stay and entertained them for their whole stay. Once I invited someone to surf for a while when I met them personally while travelling through Laos and some of the people I have hosted have even become life long friends.

Interests

I love video games and languages, I hope to learn more in my years to come, especially Thai. I love music, playing and listening. I tried picking up rockclimbing, it was fun but I haven't kept it up since. I have been practising salsa and aikido for about a year. Not sure what to pick up next, maybe archery? When traveling, I often spend a lot of time walking/hiking, or as we in Australia call it, bushwalking. And lastly boardgames. Love, love, love boardgames.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: martial arts films, actions and comedies are my favourites, but am generally happy to watch anything.
Music: Love it, appreciate most of it but alternative rock is where my heart lies.
Books: Don't read as often as i should, but i do enjoy fantasy books. Unless you count manga/manhwa, in which case I read a ton

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped out of a plane! With a parachute and an experienced instructor, but still.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have several years of practical, living out of home knowledge, I know a small variety of card/party games, other than that, I play good djembe, and I'm sure there's more, I suppose it depends on what you want to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking North-eastern Thai food, that's my usual go to, but I have a variety of other skills to share with those who are interested.
