Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting people and discovering different ways to live. I've traveled a little, I visited India a few years back (life changer!), and Oaxaca, Mexico. Someday I'd like to see Europe, Asia, and South America, but at the moment, I think it would be fun to explore more corners of this country.

Although I'm new to couchsurfing, I've heard nothing but positive things about the community. It always helps to have someone from the area give an introduction and show you around.

Interests

I love making things: drawing, painting, photography, building, and designing. I enjoy walking around town and looking at local shops and houses. I've always had a thing for old and foreign things. I enjoy theater, short story readings, and live performance. I love dance, soccer, yoga, and hiking. Health and wellness is important to me but I also like good beer, and I'm working on my sweet tooth.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh goodness. There is a lot of music out there I like, it's hard narrow it down. I go through phases but I like electronic, folk, rock, hip-hop, you name it. Some favorites: Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak, the Roots, LCD Sound System, Simian Mobile Disco, Flume, Stromae, Beck, Fiona Apple, Neko Case, Ryan Bingham, Tweedy, Devotchka, Ghostface Killah, Donnie Trumpet, Outkast, Jon Brion, Ryan Adams, James Blake, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Radiohead, Courtney Barnett, Beach House, Tomemitsu, Mac Demarco, Jenny Hval, Youth Lagoon, Empress Of, Patrick Watson, Will Butler, Vince Staples, Hot Chips, Shamir, Charles Bradley, James Brown, San Fermin, throw back 90s.

I don't watch a lot of movies but some favorites include: Fishtank, the Future, Cache, Show Me Love, Gladiator, American Gangster, American Hustle, Pride and Prejudice, Office Space, and Jurassic Park. I enjoy watching biographies on youtube and old films.

I'm reading the Denial of Death, Modern Romance, and the 12 Million Dollar Shark right now. I like short stories, two good ones are "The Library of Babel" by Louis Borge and "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. One Flew Over a Cookoo's Nest, Heart of Darkness, Slaughter House Five, and Metamorphosis are some classic favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was selected by international jury as one of the top 100 creatives in 2013 by Creative Quarterly (a quarterly publication of art and design). I placed in the top 25 for both fine art and graphic design.

I've also saved many insects from dying at my own parole (i.e. spiders). Other then mosquitos, I've got your back guys.

I can help and give you feedback on graphic design, web design, drawing, and painting.

I'm not able to host at the moment but if you are in Bozeman I'm well connected in the art and music scene. I'd be down to go to a show or get a brew at one of our fantastic breweries. I can guide you to some of the best hiking spots and camping destinations. If you need help with skis, renting, etc, I can connect you with the right people as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can help with the groceries, dishes, cleaning up. I'm an alright baker and cook. When I cook at home I usually make easy, simple dishes (I've got salads down), but if I'm with people I enjoy experimenting. I can share a smile, a good laugh, and warm conversation.
