About Me
Hey! Originally from Scotland but I'm living in Japan, Hokkaido. I moved to Yoichi about a year ago on a teaching exchange programme.
Being here has been an amazing experience so far. I've travelled more, made a ton of new friends and experienced life in a Japanese fishing town. I couldn't have imagined myself here a year ago! I love my little town and all it's quirks. I'm keen to share it with others too!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to travel in a different way! I've already made 5 great friend through this website. It's better to be able to spend time with local people in their cities and towns than stay in expensive hotels alone. I just love meeting people and hearing their stories. Yoichi is also a quite town so a change of pace can be exciting. I wanna see where it takes me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love poetry of all kinds.
One of my favourite books is 'The God of Small Things' by Arundhati Roy.
Also enjoy listening to Latin pop and salsa dance music. I'm learning how to dance and sometimes I have the chance to go into Sapporo for a lesson.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to cook you some Indian foods and maybe exchange ideas and recipes. I have a huge spice collection so having dinner together can be pretty fun.
I can always give you recommendations for restaurants and shops around Yoichi and Furubira (next town over). We have a fantastic yakitori restaurant too (I helped translate their English menu).
There are also lots of hidden gems around Yoichi that I can tell you about. Just ask :)
