About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Blending work and pleasure
ABOUT ME
I kayak, canoe, bike, and run. I have been regularly hosting college international students from the following countries: France, Germany, Spain, Congo, Syria, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia. PLEASE NO SEX OR DRUG TOURISTS. BOTH MY WIFE AND I ARE NOT GAY!
I was born in Chicago, Illinois but now live in Medellin, Colombia with my Colombian wife. Carpe Diem!
Basically I joined Couch Surfing because I love to travel and meet other people from different parts of the world. I started my journey in China doing a cross country trek by train from Guangzhou all the way up to Lanzhou. This before the recent modernization when you had to deal with mountain slides. Next I did a trek across the Arabian desert alone! I take pleasure in learning and teaching and in listening to and making music. I am developing a taste for Cubo-African jazz artists like Pancho Sanchez. I also enjoy listening to jazz, percussion or classical ensembles. I am very uncomfortable with arbitrariness, narrow-mindedness, malice, and indifference to others' feelings.
I want to get serious only when I have to. Life is meant to be enjoyed. I try to find any kind of excuse to celebrate! If you couch surf at my place we will celebrate...I am sure it is a holiday somewhere in the world!
PHILOSOPHY
I want to get serious only when I have to. I aim to be a 'life long learner'. I have met so many different people around the world that have something to offer me that I can learn from them. I want to build community, and connections thru Couchsurfing. Wir lieben die Deutschen und die Deutschen lieben uns!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been active in the Dallas chapter as well as Ft. Worth Meetings until my move to Colombia. I both hosted travelers with meals and been a guest in people homes (see below) and photos. Hosted Dominic, Sebastian and Benjamin Schulze from Erfurt, Germany. Hosted three Chinese guests from Beijing. Hosted Sebastian Dabeck from North Rhine-Westphalia
Steinfurt, Germany.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed when I first moved to Garland, Texas. Dean and Mary Gant were great. I had a super experience. This past month I couchsurfed in Austin, Texas. Andreas from Germany was awesome. He took me to several music venues. I met some of his friends. We did Sixth Street. I also couchsurfed in Vienna, Austria. I actually had a whole basement to myself. I had a full European breakfast served to me. While surfing in Cincinnati, Ohio stayed at the Peace House run by Mennonites. I have also surfed Pasadena, Calif. Hosts: Greg, Austin, Tx., Justin, Austin, Tx.; Shane in Plano, Tx., Danielle and Race in Conway, Ark, Mike in Grand Rapids, Mich
