I´m Sonia. I´m a programmer, data scientist in fact, and I create prognostic models and recommendations. I´m an optimist, who attracts trouble and good people. I´m a specialist in coming to exam the day after it took place and getting into the wrong train. At least I never get bored.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although i´m from Poland i feel like i´m a resident of the world. I grew up in Warsaw, then i moved for 7 years to Brussels, Belgium. I went back to Poland to study at univerity, but after one year i went on exchange to London. I went on Safari to Kenya and after that i did a work and travel program in USA. The I qualified on another exchange in Barcelona. I love travelling and meeting new people, watching them and their customs, trying their food, visiting the cities and wild sites, where there are not many humans. Travelling for me is not just a hobby, it´s a way of life.

Interests

First books. That´s how my traveling begun, i was on the journey (imaginary one) to Hogwart and Narnia, I was accompanying the Hobbits and following Eragon. Of course it wasn´t only fantasy. My favourite books are by polish writer Gombrowicz, I also really like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry .
Secondly cooking. It started when i was 14 and I made a birthday cake for my mom. Soon I became the first pastry maker in my family. After cakes, muffins, cookies and chocolate specials i turned to regional kitchen. When leaving in Spain I was exploring spanish recipes and I wanted to even have a cooking blog.
Third travelling. I would like to travel around the world. It´s not a dream, it´s a plan. Instead of going somewhere for 1 or 2 days i prefer to immerse into the local culture and live with people. That´s why i love exchanges so much. Fortunately as a student i had lots of opportunities to say in one place for few months. Even after my studies I continued travelling, I went on a monthly trip around Iran that was a life changing experience.
I´m also interested in logical riddles, genealogy and philosophy.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite books include Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling as they were the books that instilled love to books into me, ¨Trans-Atlantyk¨ and ¨Ferdydurke¨ by Gombrowicz, criminals by Agatha Christie and ¨The Little Prince¨ by Exupéry.
The movies that i value the most are: 12 Angry Men, The Lion King, A Beautiful Mind and The Reader. I also like a lot x-men movies and avengers.

I did a diving certificate and I was diving with turtles.
