About Me
Hi!
I'm 24 years old human geography student from Helsinki, Finland.
I'm super passionate about my studies and I think that geography is the most coolest subject ever. My major also helps me to justify my never ending passion for travelling and exploring new places..!
While I'm studying I work with disable adults and as a teacher assistant to classes of students who have special needs (like learning disabilities).
I enjoy good food and urban life but being in nature is super important to me: I love hiking and camping and just chilling in forests or on beaches.
I love traveling and cannot stay at home without having new travel plans on my mind. For me the most important thing is to get to know local people and local mentality. Usually I don't care about tourist attractions - most important is to see everyday life and get to know new people and see places that are more or less unknown.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I think that it is a best way to meet local people and see destination from local people's eyes. Hostels are nice places to stay as well but they often help a traveler to meet only other travelers.
Last summer I couchsurfed in Canada, Guatemala and Mexico and not exaggerating this trip was best ever and the biggest reason for this was that I couchsurfed! I met amazing people with big hearts and those people made the travel :) I also accepted some guests while having a big amartment in Guatemala, which was very cool as well.
I also think that couchsurfing is a great alternative to our current system that is based on consumption. I want to support a system that is based on sharing and I think that being creative (and not just go to hostel) gives you so much more! I believe, that meeting new people gives you new experiences and also broaders worldview but also helps you to understand your own culture and country.
