About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be as alive in this world as I can possibly be.

PHILOSOPHY

I attempt to live each day one at a time. I live my life for the little moments. Lately I've been fortunate enough to have a serious of incredible experiences, joys, and connections with amazing people. I've realized that these are the reasons we are living and the entire meaning of life. I'm now living my life with the aim of maximizing and relishing in these moments, while looking to make the most positive impact I can on the lives around me.

The most important thing you will ever do is give and experience love. Regardless of whatever else you do in life, always be sure to make time enough for love. And laughter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The short answer is: I haven't participated that much. But I intend to do so much more in the future, both as a surfer and as a guide around the city where I currently live (DC area). I want to meet as many people as possible, to be as open-minded as possible, and to maximize my positive interactions with others. Couch surfing allows me to be a much more involved citizen of the world.

Interests

Music (live and recorded, though live is the best), dancing (badly), making food, politics, laughter, movies (I have a miniature IMDb in my head, even about movies and TV shows I've never actually seen), reading (a LOT), bar trivia/pub quiz, Scrabble, swings, board games, card games, pool, love.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, comic books, histories, biographies, politics, social commentary, Wikipedia, and some of everything in between - I read a lot. Some favorites: the Ender's Shadow series by Orson Scott Card, Harry Potter, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman. And also: Good Omens (Gaiman and Pratchett), The Plot Against America (Roth), The Time Traveler's Wife (Niffenegger), Time Enough for Love (Heinlein), A People's History of the United States (Zinn), The Ride of Theodore Roosevelt (Morris), Jasper FForde's books

Movies: The Fifth Element, Serenity, Star Trek Generations, the newest Star Trek, Ironman, Rent, Garden State, A Few Good Men, Love Actually, Crash, Newsies, Waitress, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Benny and Joon, anything Monty Python, Empire Records, Fight Club, Clueless, and loads of Disney films, the best of which is probably The Emperor's New Groove or The Lion King

Music: Where do I begin? I like singer-songwriter types, proper rock, classic rock, country (yes, it's true), some electronica, and a random spattering of other things. My favorite artists are Jackson Browne, Dave Matthews, Chris Thile, Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Seger, Neil Young, Anna Nalick, Eric Clapton, Amanda Palmer, John Mayer, Poe, Van Morrison, Jack Johnson, Jason Aldean, etc. My favorite bands are the Dave Matthews Band, Punch Brothers, A Perfect Circle, Queen, Idlewild, The Ting Tings, Mott the Hoople, Led Zeppelin, Zac Brown Band, Incubus, the Chili Peppers, Mumford & Sons, OK Go, etc. I could list music that I like all night long.
