My name is Sophia, I come from a small village in Austria and I'm currently working as an Au Pair in New York. My parents own a restaurant, so I've always been involved in tourism and I've always loved working in hospitality, it's just amazing how many different people you meet. I went to a tourism / hospitality school in Austria and got my A-levels there. Right after graduating I applied to work in Florida for 8 months, which worked out perfectly! After that, I spent some time at home working at different hotels and traveling around the globe, but after 1.5 yrs I left again to work on a cruise ship in the Caribbean for 4 months. I came back from my contract in Feb 2018, worked at home again and left Austria in October to be an Au Pair and fulfill my dream of living in New York. And here I am, always excited for new experiences and meeting people from around the world to share memories with :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love getting to know people from different places and making friends all over the world. Couchsurfing is a fantastic way of combining traveling, meeting new people and seeing a city's "real" side with locals.

Interests

Traveling, laughing, spending time with friends and family, getting to know people, eating out and finding unique restaurants, adventures, learning new things and languages, hiking, skiing, reading, biking, oldschool music, philosophy, nature, my actual job as a waitress,... too much to even fit in this box :) i'm sure there's hobbies i haven't even discovered yet, so always up for trying something new!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- live abroad (Spain - Florida - NYC)
- sunset from my house in austria; no sunset around the globe has ever beaten that view
- move to Spain at age 17 without speaking a word of spanish
- cross the atlantic ocean on a ship as a crew member
- glass bottom kayak in Puerto Rico's bioluminescent bay
- promised myself to live in new york one day when i was 16; now i'm there
- safari in south africa
- sunset at the grand canyon (#2 in the world :) )
