We are Mikkel (35) and Sophia (27) - a couple from Denmark🌞

We live in a flat - right under the roof, in an old appartment in the very center of Aarhus. Mikkel is an entrepreneur and has a passion for comedy and entertainment and restores old bikes as a hobby. Sophia studies Art History and is creative whenever possible, hoping to work with the cross between sustainability, ecology and art.
We have just bought an old van - a Ford Transit from 1979 we have named Gudrun - that we hope to restore and experience many travelling adventures in. But until she is ready, we travel with a tent. We are both spiritual in nature and very curious about life - art, music and adventures are some of what we aim to fill our own and others' lives with.

None of us drink alcohol or smoke, but we are always up for a good time, weird food, hidden gems and new challenges!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We wish for our adventures to be social and open to new cultures and people. We do not wish for a vacation - we wish to travel, where we really live and experience the places we travel to as well as getting new connections along the way!
We also welcome travellers into our home - giving back and meeting new people from around the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

Both of us love experimenting and aim to keep learning in an about life and not just in school.
Books about spirituality and personal finance are on our booshelves as well as old classic danish kids book full of inspiring illustrations and fantastical stories.

We just got an record-player to work, and have collected the full setup from thrift-stores and the streets, ending up with a huge collection of old records that we love to explore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The summer of 2023 - as seen in the pictures - we biked around the edge of the island of Bornholm within two weeks and with only our backpacks, a tent and some bikes we borrowed. We saw old ruins, breathtaking nature, slept on rocks by the sea, woke up next to goats and cows and swam in a quarry, among other things.
This was our first big adventure together!
In 2024 we went on a 2 month interrail through Europe, meeting the most amazing people through CS and volunteering at an italian monastery. It was definitly not the last train-trip!

Teach, Learn, Share

In the summer of 2024 we both volunteered at a monastery in Fabriano, Italy for 2 weeks. Here we aided the nuns however they needed, which often meant assistance in their gardens or with repairing old parts of the enormous monastery.
In 2022 Sophia was a volunteer at a summer camp in Transylvania, Romania, where she taught about mental health to older kids and teens. She has also taught music and art occationally throughout the years. Both of which are passions!
Mikkel knows so many cool things about so much and a conversation with him is never boring as he is truely a funny guy! And if you have problems with your car (or other vehicle) or plants, he is the guy to consult!
