About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Properly update this thing, heh...
ABOUT ME
I'm quite open and amiable, and most people find me really easy to talk to. I despise dishonesty and I don't lie. "I prize love. I love honest laughter. There is no good nor true thing on this earth but I love it from my heart." ~Robert Louis Stevenson's Markheim... What you see isn't always what you get with me. I run fairly deep. I'm spontaneous. Often random. I hear "crazy" a lot. A great sense of humour gets you faaaaaar with me. I laugh almost as much as I smile, which is all the time. I've given a lot of time and thought to the things I believe in every aspect. I'm still in the process of figuring things out, and I think that's okay. If most of the people I know saw my IQ score, they'd probably be surprised. I'm smart, but I'm gullible. Acting slightly flaky is a defense mechanism with me. I love the rain. I'm often found dancing in it. I love animals. I don't eat them. I don't kiss and tell. I'm a vault when it comes to secrets. I'm not an open book, but I have a hell of a lot of open chapters, so if there's anything you want to know whatsoever, ask!
PHILOSOPHY
I live to seek out Truth in every way, shape and form it can be found, and then apply it in my own life to the extent it is possible to do so. My entire personal philosophy revolves around Love, as I believe it's one of the most overused words and underpracticed concepts in the world. I suppose I should also add that if I'm not helping someone somewhere with something, I feel pretty useless.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf while on vacation and host while I'm at home, simply put. ^_^
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had a lot of friends and friends of friends who've come through town and stayed over with me. I've got the Southern Hospitality thing going on. I simply love meeting others, and this makes a lot of sense for me since I'm fully intent on immersing myself into other cultures and really knowing what the locals everywhere are like, instead of just visiting the touristy types of places.
Interests
Stargazing, theoretical physics, horseback riding, other nocturnal people, anime, Trigun (seriously), concerts, coffeehouses, poetry, fellow authors, tea, martial arts, fellow artists, mythology, debates, gaming, chrono trigger, cuddling, travel, theatre, watching flicks, piercing things when I get bored, dying my hair different colours, helping others in need, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Fight Club, Donnie Darko, any and everything by Akira Kurosawa, same by Darren Aronofsky, same by Wes Anderson, Edward Scissorhands, Army of Darkness, lots of Kubrick, The Professional, Boondock Saints, Vanilla Sky, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Life is Beautiful, Everything is Illuminated, Dark City, The Matrix, tons more. Though really, I'll watch anything once, and I love movies.
As for music, pretty much anything except country and rap. Elliott Smith, Clarnald, Eels, Brian Eno, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Sigur Ros, underground bands, ethnic music, classical, celtic, alternative, all manner of music. It takes us where mere words could never go.
Books, favourite authors is more appropriate. Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Ray Bradbury, Chuck Palahniuk, Hunter S. Thompson, Brian Greene, Richard Feynman, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, e.e. cummings, Edgar Allen Poe, Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Herman Hesse, Thoreau, Baudelaire, Ishiguro, Orson Scott Card, Homer, Kerouac, Ashleigh Brilliant, a whole bunch of others. I treasure reading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was nineteen years old, I packed up a few belongings and left everything I'd known behind to move to a place in Canada I'd never seen with a boy I'd never met in real life. This may not sound that amazing to anyone else, but for someone with as strict of an upbringing as I had, being able to move myself away from it, to just leave the Past as the Past and throw myself blindly into whatever the Future had to offer, was huge. I lived in Edmonton, Alberta for two years, and I still miss it sometimes, but I have no regrets.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can't think of any one thing I'm incredibly fantastic at... I was always that kid who was pretty good at a lot of things instead of spectacular at one thing. As far as my city goes, I was born and raised here and thus have the advantage of knowing where the real heart of the city lies, not just what they show you in touring books and what people who've just moved here love about the place. I love introducing others to great places, great food, great teas, great experiences. As far as personality goes, I can make friends with anyone in a matter of moments. My passion for learning new things screams that I'd love to hear pretty much anything you have to say, though I'm very adept at being invisible and out of the way if you'd rather skip all the pleasantries and just have me crash your couch and leave, quietly. I'm very athletic, though now that I'm out of school it's not so much sports as it is hiking, kayaking, biking, etc. The blood of artists runs in my veins for generations past, and I do every medium from pottery to oils, acrylics, watercolour, drawing, sculpting, pastels... my favourite being charcoal. I also write poetry and short stories, and am in the middle of writing eight different novels. We'll see if I ever bother publishing anything. If I could do anything with my life, I'd travel and learn from everyone along the way. Seriously. This would be my ideal job, just travelling around and writing about it. I could happily do that for the rest of my life. As far as what I'm looking to learn, really any and everything you have to share, honestly. I love off-the-beaten-path places. I want to learn what the locals do for fun, where they eat, what their philosophies are. I have a plethora of hobbies I could teach you... I suppose I should make a list. That'll take a while, heh.
