About Me

I always want to try new things-learn something new, meet someone new. If given the chance between a movie I've seen and one I've never seen, I'll always pick the one I haven't. Restaurant I've tried vs. one I haven't, I'd always want to try the one I haven't.

Aside from trying new things, I enjoy long discussions over dinner or tea(love cooking, trying new restaurants, and cafes), exploring quirky shops (vintage boutiques, odds-and-ends), reading (studied English literature in college, see favorite books below!) and going out clubbing and dancing all night long.

I'm a very trusting and giving soul (which makes me perfect for the role of a host on CS), and love to meet people, although I can become a bit overwhelmed when group events become too large (say, over 10-15).

I have family in France (near Versailles in this little town called Bois d'Arcy), so I've spent lots of time in France (including working there over a summer) trying to learn French.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had an amazing time meeting people through Couchsurfing, whether as a host, a guest, or just at Couchsurfing events!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
I grew up with my nose perpetually stuck in a book, and I majored in English literature in college. Overall, I’d say that my tastes tend towards pre-1900 work, and towards non-American literature—as a child, I was completely enamored by Greek culture (read the Odyssey dozens of times), and books full of adventure like The Three Musketeers and The Once and Future King (and any other book about King Arthur). In high school, I became obsessed with Ayn Rand and Russian literature (Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy). In college, I found a love for Shakespeare and British writers, and I am currently trying to explore more post-1945 writers, and cultivate an interest in American literature (an uphill battle, I fear).

Current favorites:
anything by Kazuo Ishiguro or Margaret Atwood, Joyce's Ulysses, Richard Yates' Revolutionary Road, Navokov's Lolita
