My name is Sophie, I am a student from England studying in the US for the year. I attend Canterbury Christ Church university in the UK and I am almost at an end of my time at North Central College in Naperville.

Since being in America I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit all kinds of places including Chicago (right on my door step), New York, South Carolina and St Louis. The finale, (saving the best until last) is California. It has always been my dream to go here ... so I want to make the most of it.

I love meeting people and socializing - one of my main hobbies is making friends and having fun! I pride myself as being a nice and respectful person. I always want to hear other peoples stories and experience things with them. I am very out going, anything from a long walk to a drink in a bar. Spontaneity is the way of life, so I'll almost always say yes to any adventure.

My other hobbies are water sports - in England I live in Hastings (a quaint sea side town) fun fact, they broke the world record for having the most people dressed as pirates on our yearly "pirate day". Anyway, I have done a lot of stand up paddle boarding and kayaking so I'd love to try this in California.

Food food food. I have a stomach of steel, so I'll eat anything! I love trying all sorts of whacky looking food, which has been frequent in my travels to America.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friends have told me it's a great way to meet other travelers. Sometimes I travel by myself so it would be great to meet new people to share experiences with. I hope to travel around other countries after this experience in America, so getting a taste of couch surfing would be helpful!
