About Me

I am an avid hiker, less-frequent-than-I-would-like climber, and camper. I currently live in Newfoundland where I just completed my paramedic diploma. I am hoping to find a way to combine my degrees in Recreation and Paramedicine to work in the National Park system!

I'll drink whatever tea is on hand on a chilly morning, I enjoy reading before bed, and think self-directed city walking/cycling tours are the way to go in a new city unless there is a willing local on hand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love seeing the homes that people have made for themselves and learning about their lives. Nothing beats learning about a place from a local perspective!

Interests

I try to adventure as much as possible. Sometimes these trips are meticulously planned, but more often than not they are thrown together last minute with whoever is ready to tag along!

  • camping
  • surfing
  • rock climbing

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a fairly eclectic taste in music but enjoy anything that I can wiggle to! Most recently I have been enjoying music from local artists here in Newfoundland including Tim Baker and Jenina MacGillivray. The Shins and Rayland Baxter are usually also on heavy rotation! When I'm feeling funky (usually while cooking breakfast on a sunny day) I enjoy listening to Jungle.

I enjoy movies that make me think and feel things, but also enjoy low hanging fruit comedies every now and then! Some faves include: Children of Men and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

I have had the great pleasure of reading a number of superb books recently! I can't recommend "The Land of Lost Borders" by Kate Harris enough. I enjoy non-fiction books about adventure especially from a female perspective. I'll gladly take whatever book recommendations you may have for me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed the Chief in Squamish, BC with a new-but-good friend!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a knack for teaching people to loon call. I taught myself in german class in high school, much to my teacher's chagrin.

I love learning about local legends/folklore and current community issues.

I enjoy sharing a good meal and travel/camping tips!
