HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently living with a host family in Cuba so can't offer a room, but when I get back to London in the summer I would love to offer a couch to someone...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never used a website before, but of course I have informally couchsurfed a lot over the years. The last experience I had was a couple of months ago when I got caught in a tropical rainstorm so sought shelter at a farm. The farmer was so kind to take me in but it was interesting spending the night in a room with 15 pigs whilst being rained on through a leaky roof!

兴趣

I love the great outdoors - going for walks and bike rides and camping out in the middle of nowhere for weeks at a time. I also love cities though: walking the streets for hours soaking up the atmosphere of a place and talking to people along the way. In the evenings I like going out to meet with people and can't help but dance when I hear music! I dance salsa (am currently living in Cuba). I love good food and enjoy cooking for friends and eating out from time to time too. I work with disabled people and it is much more than a job to me, disability rights is a big passion in my life.

Salsa, soca, reggae, jazz, blues, calypso, English folk, gospel, classical. I love pretty much any music and find it hard to sit down if there is music playing. I like reading too, but rarely do it as I am never sitting down long enough!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I am very lucky to have been able to travel and see a lot. Flying by light aircraft in to the jungle and then spending a day travelling by boat in order to see Angel Falls, the worlds highest waterfall, was thrilling. The whole journey was beautiful, despite the rain! I also trekked 330km across the Namib desert and Skeleton Coast 10 years ago, it was exhausting but stunning and I have never been so happy to see the sea as I was when we finally arrived on the last day of the trek.

I have lots of information about disability and how to support disabled people. I also know a lot of traditional English folk songs that i can teach (although be warned my singing voice is not fantastic!). I am currently learning Spanish and Polish and used to be able to speak German so would love to do language swops with people.
