Grow, open, explore. Find the lesson. Watch the shadows. Balance.
My name is Sophie. I have 27 years. I studied Theatre at the University of Oregon, and I care very much about this beautiful paradise we have the honor to call home. One of my strengths is that I can find the positive in most any situation. Things I like: eating, reading aloud, Reiki, Reflexology, Yoga, helping others, recycling, movies/books/theatre/music, Ecstatic dance, massage, and sleeping.
Just to be present with every moment, with the people, things, and ideas that come into my world. Trying to see everything as 'myself,' and putting out the energy I want to get back. Letting go of being afraid to disappoint others.
"A ship in harbor is safe-- but that is not what ships are built for." - John A. Shedd
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Homes along the way across the country where I encountered more generosity than I can communicate.
5 incredible weeks in Buenos Aires, staying with new family who took care of me and my partner Charlotte: good food, nights on the town, had wonderful family dinners for Christmas Eve (Noche Buena) and New Years (Noche Vieja). I could not ever thank them all enough.
Magical stays in Peru, Chile, and Uruguay that I will never forget.
Also in Amsterdam, and Enschede, NL. In Enschede, I met my host's friends, made a pinhole camera and a lasagna, biked all around town, and even had a photo shoot at her college!
Theatre, writing, organizing, and reading. Volunteering, exercising, making or finding really good food. Listening to people talk about what they are passionate about.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: 100 Years of Solitude (anything by Marquez), The Lizard Cage, Atlas Shrugged, The Disappeared, Autobiography of Red, and that damned Hunger Games/Harry Potter series. Because I am a millennial.
Film: (Lately) Call Me By Your Name. Baby Driver. Moonlight.
(Of Old) All the Miyazaki films. Anything directed by Wes Anderson. Also, Little Miss Sunshine, Fight Club, Titanic. Romeo and Juliet (1968) and most all Disney movies. Could give you a scene/scene of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I backpacked through Costa Rica and worked on a baby turtle hatchery, traveled to Nicaragua to go volcano boarding, and got Dengue Fever. A month exploring Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala! Más recién, South American adventure with my best gal from Philadelphia, 3 months staying with CouchSurfers from Machu Picchu, Peru; down to Valparaiso, Chile; wine country in Mendoza and 5 weeks in Buenos Aires; camping and trekking in Patagonia; and a solo mission up the coast of Uruguay. Driving from CA to TX, seeing the Grand Canyon and Sedona, exploring New Mexico. Couchsurfing has been the lifeline and "joie de vivre" of my journeys.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am open to adventures.
I can do a tarot spread for you, a Reiki healing, or head massage.
I would love to share writings, music, ideas.
If you play music, I'll listen, and I might even dance!
