ABOUT ME

I come from Alaska; my husband is from Italy; we met in Los Angeles and have been going strong ever since. We live just north of Portland, OR and about 145 miles south of Seattle, on 21 acres of forest land with beautiful views of the Columbia River. During our working years most of our travel was confined to the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Also, because we had horses we were pretty well tied to home base. Now that we are footloose and fancy free we try to make as many trips, anywhere and everywhere, that we can for as long as our health holds out. Enjoy gambling, prefer Reno to Las Vegas. Skiing is a passion and now that we are both over 70, at some resorts we get to ski for free! I come from a multi-racial, multi-national family.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Over the years we have hosted a myriad of young people in our home whom we have met in many different ways. We've also had a total of 5 French exchange students stay with us from as short as one month to as long as one year.

It is important to know that I have always responded 100%. I do not know why CS does not reflect that. No matter what, I will respond.

Books: Just about any non-fiction; Fiction favorites: "Michel, Michel" by Robert Lewis, any Nevil Shute (Norway) book, "The Source" & "The Covenant" by James Mitchner, "Maggie" by Lena Kennedy, classic Russian literature, too many others to list.

There have been so many incredible events, places, and people that it is hard to narrow it down to just a few. However, I never cease to be amazed at the wonderful guests who have surfed our couch both before and after joining CS. We learn so very much from them all.

Never be afraid of appearing foolish when you try to communicate with someone whose language you do not speak. No matter how hilarious the effort may be, you can still forge lifelong friendships.
