About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and stretch my own limits. Step out of my comfortzone and do things I never dared.

ABOUT ME

I'm easygoing, value a good conversation, sharing stories and a laugh. Can be a lazy couchpotato at times, but also love to go hiking, hitchhiking and camping.

Feel free to wake me up for good coffee or food. A massive foodie actually, a kitchen is what I miss most during my travels.

PHILOSOPHY

For the time being...

Live the dream, travel the world.

Home is where the backpack is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment
I live out of a backpack in New Zealand. Pitching my tent at campsites most nights, so not very suitable for hosting. Happy to meet some CSers along the way though!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few times while living in Chongqing, China. I have had only two requests to host in my hometown, two requests over the past 9 years.
While traveling I have been fortunate enough to meet some amazing hosts and other couchsurfers throughout Europe, Asia and New Zealand.

Interests

I love to explore and meet new people. Equally love lazy days, watching a movie or the world go by.

  • chess
  • hiking
  • camping
  • hitchhiking
  • food

Music, Movies, and Books

I always enjoy Tarantino, in general more a fan of television series though, Black Mirror, GoT, Breaking Bad, love those.

As for books, I love Haruki Murakami, Jon Krakauer, Irvine Welsh and Yann Martel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once frisked a corrupt Kyrgyz police officer after he took some of my money outside a market. More and more locals gathered as I claimed he stole my money, fishing it out of his pocket eventually.

I hitchhiked through Central Asia, meeting so many amazing people on the way, it certainly restores one's faith in humanity. People still help out one another, and aren't afraid to get into contact. Something that we seem to forget in the Western world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some useless Dutch or share some of my views on hitchhiking. What I'm trying to learn at the moment is Spanish, baby steps.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd happily cook you some food. Asian fusion or some Dutch traditional with a (much needed) twist.

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Netherlands
