我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Actually, this profile is kind of a leftover from the days, when this network used to be more than just a second facebook... Right now, I'm only active on trustroots.org and bewelcome.org.
The main reasons, why I don't use CS any more are:
- CS is offering a service. To cover the costs, it's OK to ask for money. But then please do it openly and transparently and don't shit around with bullshit like "verification"-buttons and "You are not allowed to write more than 10 messages, if you don't pay". This is, in a certain way, insulting to the user's intellect, since the whole profitability of this company is based on the "service" of it's own customers.
- CS is making profit by collecting and selling data without even explaining, what and where they are selling it. This, after German law, is actually illegal, but since the company is based in the US, there's nothing the European administration can do about it.
- CS became part of this "optimize your lifestyle"-ideology ("facebookization"). Instead of telling you about the seriousness of a project like this, they created a fancy new design with smiling people having fun. Who doesn't want to be like them... Implicitly they are saying: Come and join us, the selfie, you're seeing here, could present your face. You don't need to do more than to buy these sunglasses, smoke these cigarettes, or join this hospitality network. You don't have to, but if you do, you'll be able to present yourself in a cooler way. :)
I haven't been to their graveyards recently, but I suppose, Nietzsche and Freud are turning over in their graves with at least 2000 rpm, due to what is happening here.
