About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get thesis done, finish my MS, start teaching!

ABOUT ME

I like to get to know people with some espresso and fresh made bake goods... if i have a home at the time then ill whip em up for you! On a good day, its off to charge around some mountains by sandal, bike, snowshoes, crampons, sled, or board. Cities are cool too, but mostly I like em in little doses. A great day is packing a car full of friends and artsy tools and taking off for a festival! The best day is one that surprises me with unexpected adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My last house hosted a lot of surfers, now I am hoping to keep that spirit alive as I splinter off in another place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Cool people, good stories, finding new stuff amazing like kale and lime!

Interests

Currently, I am finishing my MS and teaching certification, slowly progressing on my avalanche/snow science thesis, and working irregular gigs.

In the past I have benn guide in Alaska in the summer time, taking advantage of the midnight sun to do anything from flyfish to alpine climb in between trips. Alaska lets you feel like you are really getting into the wild and experiencing something new and unique when you get deep into the folds of these glaciated peaks. I also taught snowboarding in the winter and still find a lot of time to spend in the backcountry, with the help of split board or a snowmobile. Winter is peaceful in the snow and much better with moose steaks and jars of salmon along with tasty microbrews!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Heading just out of anchorage into the glen alps where blue skies and denali, foraker, and hunter loom above, a long approach to a steep mixed pitch of ice and rock yields beautiful views in swirling winds and snowdrift. The wind abets and I follow a challenging route full of dry tooling cracks and brittle ice. Long after the winter sun has faded the northern lights come out and i feel as is I'm floated on the clouds of snow under my snowshoes. A 12 hour day leaves me content and hungry for more.
For a warm memory... my last night in byron bay australia where energized dance parties in the "jungle" push us out to the cooling winds off the ocean. Skinny dipping with friends old and new as sheet lightning tears across the sky. We hardly sleep as rain pounds ourselves and our tired tents. I hop on a bus, leaving the surf and party enclave soaked, tired and satisfied.
