About Me

"I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived... I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life" -Thoreau

We (Armando and Christine) met in Oaxaca, Mexico. After a long, woeful journey through the US immigration process, we are now based in Georgia, USA. We laugh at the irony that a "Macho Mexicano" and a "Gringa Loca" should have met and fallen in love. Our relationship and our life is a meeting of cultures that is a never-ending learning experience. Our backgrounds are completely different, but our core beliefs are in harmony. We value family, integrity, honesty, kindness, simplicity. We are both resourceful, grateful and flexible.

Right now my purpose is to help my students adjust to their new home and American culture through the learning of English. One day we will return to Oaxaca where we are building (albeit, very slowly) a solar powered, grey water system, lovely little house.

A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. - Albert Einstein

I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. - Michael Jordan

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be. - Kurt Vonnegut

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. - Dr. Seuss

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We just got back on the road after a 7 year "settled" phase as a taxi company owner/public school teacher in suburban Atlanta. Now at Renaissance Festival in Tuxedo, New York and looking to take some mini-excursions around New England.

We had the most amazing 3 week couch surfing trip. I was a little nervous at first about showing up on a stranger's doorstep, but the people who received us were so warm, welcoming, and wonderful that we will treasure forever the memories, and hope to develop some newfound international friendships.

We like spending time with family and friends, good conversation, salsa dancing, trying new foods, traveling. We like to putter about the house. We are a pretty quiet couple. I really enjoy watching the sunset.
