About Me

ABOUT ME

Friends have described me as the one who brings people together. I always feel warm and fuzzy when I think about the times I've received that feedback. Here's an example... I went to school in 2011 for Holistic Massage Therapy. In the beginning we were 22 strangers and in the end we were an incredibly loving and accepting community of amazing human beings of all walks of life. Every new instructor we had commented on what a dynamic group we were. All so open, so curious, so engaged. The last day of the program, a fellow student came to me and thanked me on behalf of the team for sparking and nurturing such a loving team dynamic. I was stunned to be receiving this credit and at that moment chose to look back on my life and see other examples of how I had done this within groups. I'm grateful for knowing that this is a strength of mine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I have my own place my doors are always open and I love to meet people who share the same philosophy :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had been living in Vancouver for a number of years hosting friends, friends of friends, friends of family, etc. all before knowing Couch Surfing existed. I learned about it once I decided to up and explore some of beautiful British Columbia. So far, I've found many places to stay without the use of the website but once in awhile, when in need I'll hop on and hope for a helping hand.

Interests

To sort of combine all of my different life skills and experiences I now instruct behavior change. To be specific, I teach Social Skills. Sooooo cool. That said, people grab my attention! My curiosity keeps me engaged! I spend my time with people either having a variety of philosophical conversations that turn the brightest light bulbs of my mind on or having fun! Being playful! I do require downtime, however. I am a natural introvert after all. That said, time spent reading and writing ideally out in nature is the the ultimate recharge for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ooooh here's a great memory. Canada day, July 1st 2011. I was walking late at nigh through Gastown. All of the party goers were leaving the bars, including the sailors who were in town for the occasion. I couldn't help but introduce myself to a group of these tall handsome men in their white uniforms and was excited to receive an invitation to join them on their ship for a nightcap. So off we headed through all the security onto the HCMS Algonquin Area Air Defense Destroyer. We had a blast in the mess hall listening to 90's rock and sharing stories. By the end of the night they celebrated me as an honorary member of the team (we were considering drafting a letter to the PM letting him know the ship had taken on a massage therapist for obvious health and wellness purposes... I was fully prepared to sail off with them). Anyway, at some point we realized that the sun would be rising soon and went on deck to witness the most beautiful sunrise together. I felt inspired and decided to lead the men in a round of sun salutations! They had never done yoga before so imagine this group of men in their white uniforms on deck of their ship saluting the sun with posture and breath. So amazing!!
