ABOUT ME
I'm originally from Southern California. I studied filmmaking at university, worked as a bartender afterward and then left the states for Scandinavia. I planned to travel, but went to Barcelona on a whim and stayed there for 4 years. I studied my masters in Film Editing and played pro softball. Spain and its lovely people will always hold a special place in my heart, if you haven’t been already make sure you visit.
I traveled for 7 months in 2014 all throughout SE Asia and am now on my last leg of 4 months in SE Asia, mostly Indonesia this time.
I really enjoy getting off the beaten path and typically do not enjoy touristy things to do. I love solo travel, especially walking or driving through local villages and having conversations with the locals and smiling with the kids. I like to spend at least a week in a place to absorb its rhythm of life. I always prefer to stay in local guest houses or home stays, avoiding hotels whenever possible.
I seek to watch more sunrises and sunsets and stay present. I try to listen to all the amazing sounds of life around me everyday, as taught to me by a lovely teacher back in college in sound design class.
My passions are scuba diving, solo travel, photography, underwater videography, and video editing.
I love to cook but need to learn more. I love to eat all things local, new and different. I don’t party, I don’t drink very much and I don’t smoke, therefore you won’t find me at the hip rooftop bar in the city, instead I hope to be eating some local street food with some new friends in your amazing city or village.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't collect things, collect experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couch surfing experience was in Saint Denis just outside Paris. I posted a note looking to travel over the winter holidays in 2010. I received very kind and open responses from all over Europe. I decided to go to Paris for 7 days, where I couch surfed and had one of the most memorable experiences ever. Thanks Gerda
I haven't been able to invite any fellow couch surfers because I have always lived in a shared apartment, and now I live far away in the mountains, however I look forward to hosting in the future when I have my own apartment.
