About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel and do archaeology in as many places as possible... while trying to get a job doing archaeology.

ABOUT ME

I'm studying bioarchaeology and writing my PhD thesis on bone shape as an indicator of activity. I lead a busy, stressful, and hectic life, but fortunately I get to travel often.

I'm a runner, researcher, Burner, general enthusiast of life. I like food A LOT but am a vegetarian.

I also do crafty things: I knit and bake and used to sew, when I had the time. I like absurdity. I like magical realism in novels. Very liberal.

PHILOSOPHY

I live to learn. Everything I do is in pursuit of knowledge, from the minutiae up. Mostly minutiae though. I love meeting people and hearing their stories, especially in the Burner community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have never couchsurfed before, but I would like to in the future. I like meeting new people and giving back to the communities I'm a part of.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by Neil Gaiman, Roald Dahl, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, or Michael Chabon, but I read mostly non-fiction about history, epidemiology, and bones. The Canterbury Tales is pretty sweet too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in a shaman ceremony at the top of a mountain in Peru.
I roasted a whole lamb on a home-made spit after taking advice from an old Greek butcher named Andreas in Chicago's Greektown.
I have run outside my building to see both beautiful night skies and -30-degree weather.
(that's more than one, but I love all the things I've done..)

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to dig holes, both 2mx2mx1m (perfectly edged) and trowel-deep. They both come in handy at different times in my life. I can also make delicious grilled cheese sandwiches.
