About Me

I guess I'm a rather "normal" person, stranded in a small village in Bavaria. I live with my daughter (13) and work for an NGO teaching German. I like travelling, hiking, climbing, dancing (tango e.g.) and I play volleyball. Of course I enjoy books & music, who doesn´t. I consider myself as openminded and uncomplicated but I wouldn't say that I am especially a people-person, e.g. I have problems with small talk or putting up a short, informative, likeable profile.
I`ve lived in Mexico (D.F.) for about 6 years and my daughter's family is spread over two continents now, so travelling of course is a big part of that, as far as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had registered some years ago (2010-15?), first living in Karlsruhe and then in Freising. We received guests from Czech Republic, Spain, Canada, Sweden, US and Germany and always had very interesting and positive encounters meeting great people and broadening our horizon. In Mexiko (San Luis Potosí), I lived with a very nice woman for two weeks, sharing a room with a couple from Argentina.
Then I started sharing my appartement for some years and it was no longer possible to offer a couch. Somehow I lost my profile in the meantime, I guess it´s still out there (??)
The reason why I like couchsurfing is probably the same as for most of you. I still think that it´s the best way to travel, you get to know real people in their own world, or you can invite them into your's, sharing places, experiences, stories, opinions, recipes, coffee and whatever everybody has to offer

Music, Movies, and Books

quite broad, maybe I'll fill out this section later. Certainly I'm always interested in book recommendations, it adds something to the book if you have a person to connect it with.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mexico is a great country with great people and I really enjoyed the time there. I made great friends and colleagues and even family. I wouldn´t want to miss any of it. I greatly appreciate the education I got at UNAM university and Mexico City is a wonderful, colorful, vivid ciudad monstruo. I had so many great experiences there and in the whole country, from hiking the volcanoes, celebrating a russian New Year's on the roof tops over the city, hitch-hiking from village to village in rural Oaxaca evaluating the social impacts of solar collectors, of course the beaches, the archeological sites, the Monarch butterflies, I could go on and on...
In terms of live experiences, watching my child grow up and being a part of it, is what I am most grateful for.

Teach, Learn, Share

Right now I don't really know what to put here, I will read some more profiles...
I think, most times learning and teaching is as easy as just talking to each other, discover and share interests and perspectives, I like discussing culture and politics, getting to know new food, customs, music, plants... or simply practicing my English or very neglected French, both of which I rarely get to speak in everyday life. (Con el Espanol va más o menos bien.)
