Overview
About Me
I'm not a farmer but I spend a lot of time on farms. I'd usually rather walk than drive. I tend to pursue hobbies in intense, intermittent bursts rather than over prolonged periods.
Occasional hobbies include: blues harmonica, gardening, genealogy and Tuvan throatsinging.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Interested in seeing some cool places and meeting some cool people. Made this account ages ago and promptly forgot about it, but I'd like to actually try it out this year...

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - I casually enjoy a wide range of genres from bluegrass to post-punk to Spanish pop. I don't know much about any of them.
Movies - stranger-than-fiction documentaries, introspective science fiction, survival movies, almost anything with good art direction.
Books - mostly anthropological sci-fi (a la Ursula Le Guin) and nonfiction
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I shoot for at least one a year. This year I finished my first solo walking trip - 9 days hiking the Rota Vicentina along the west coast of Portugal. It was pretty awesome: dramatic cliffs, ragged dunes, empty beaches, and I met a ton of really cool people (and dogs!) along the way.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Pleasant conversation and fun facts about agriculture. Did you know baby alpaca are called cria?
Countries I’ve Visited
Canada, Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden
