About Me

I am Steffie, 23, from the North of France. I graduated in History first, then went for a gap year abroad in Australia, where I was an au pair and met amazing people there. Then I went back to France to graduate in English.

I have been chosen to be a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (that's quite a mouthful, so let's stick to FLTA) and I still can't quite wrap my head around that because I have wanted it for so long and HOLY MOLLY this is happening now.

So yeah, that's pretty it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided to join because I will be roaming around the US next year and intend to meet many fantastic people on the way and share stories. Overall I think couch surfing is an authentic travelling experience, and that's what I am most definitely looking for.

Interests

Let's see ... Horse riding, theater and musicals, rugby, horse riding, the French Revolution, History in general, movies, travelling obviously, the US culture, education, teaching, English, movies, hiking, the British culture...

And the list goes on and on

  • culture
  • theater
  • education
  • cooking
  • movies
  • traveling
  • hiking
  • surfing
  • rugby
  • teaching
  • history
  • au-pair

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is rather eclectic, I enjoy everything from Bach to Nicky Minaj.

I love going to the movies, which I do very regularly. Not a big fan of romantic flicks and trying not to judge too much ( this is a work in progress)
I love the Star Trek series/movies ( old and new) and cannot wait to see the new one this Summer.
Also big fan (understatement) of the LOTR saga

BUT .... I have never watched the Star Wars series. I know ...

As to the books, I love to read. I am currently finishing The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest and have a pile of others waiting for me to pick them up.

Still, if I had to choose a favorite, I'd be chauvinistic and say ... Everything Maxime Chattam has ever written. The guy's a genius (and French! )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Building a firecamp and sleeping under the stars in the middle of the desert, a few kms from the rock Uluru in Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share

To me, sharing is the basis of human interaction and it is especially true when travelling.

You always learn something, about a new culture, a city, a person ... and you always teach something regarding your own experience.

But more pragmatically, I am trying to improve my German which has suffered from years of abandonment, so if you can do something about that, I will be very grateful. If not, hey that's alright, we can still have an amazing time !

Oh, and if someone could tell me how to use the comma in the English syntax, that would be much appreciated!

What I Can Share with Hosts

ME!

I mean, I am French, so obviously any question related to that culture, language etc. would be answered, I can cook crêpes from scratch. That must be the only thing I can do in a kitchen but I am willing to help preparing meals as long as you tell me what to do.

All in all, I am eager to share my enthusiasm for Life and my joie de vivre. I want to learn about you and tell you about me, and share moments that I am sure not to forget once I'm gone.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, France
