I like to travel, and I twice now I've gotten my company to fund it.
I studied interdisciplinary anthropology in college, focusing in human evolution and archaeology. I also studied Spanish, but haven't kept up on it and can't speak much any longer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've found that the best times I've had traveling are when you have someone local to introduce you to the area, rather than relying on travel guides and the Internet.

Interests

I like to bicycle, but am not so great at hills. Or traffic. The Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail is rather well suited for me.
I like kayaking, but haven't had the opportunity to do so much.
I sew. I hear it supposed to be relaxing, but have yet to have that outcome.
I brew beer and make my friends help drink it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like my entertainment vapid: I like pop music and Pacific Rim.
Ask me about Johnathan Strange and Mr Norrell if you want to hear about the best book ever written.
I really love Howl's Moving Castle, too.
Right now, comic books are my poison. I recommend that you, too, go through the emotional rollercoaster that is the Wicked + the Divine. (I also am into Saga, Rat Queens, Squirrel Girl, and Ms. Marvel).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in an archaeological dig in Peru in 2007. That was the first time I'd been out of the country (other than Niagara Falls in Canada as a child), and I went with no one I knew. I had a miserable time with homesickness and altitude sickness but am super glad that I went.
