About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel to new places, experience new things!

ABOUT ME

I lived in Zurich as an au pair for a year and a half when I learned about couch surfing.
I grew up on a farm in small town Canada so am always amazed by the big bright busy cities of Europe and the wonderful people I have met - other au pairs, other travellers, friendly locals.
I did 4 years of University and at the end of it they gave me a degree in Sociology, I then spent the next 4 years working different jobs in London, Toronto, and Alaska until going back to school September 2011.
I am a pretty easy going gal, and I think I have what it takes to not be an annoying house guest.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is comprised of other philosophies or words of wisdom that I keep in my mind...I can't take credit for these words but I believe in them...
-regret the things you do, not the things you didn't do
-'the golden rule'
-each person is responsible for their own success, failures, emotions...there is very very little in this world that can be blamed on anyone else but yourself...(or 'accredited' to yourself for a more positive spin)
-but think of the story you can tell when this is over! (that is one to get through those days when you are travelling with no place to stay, no phone, or when you have just entered the most shoddy hostel ever built)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attended some couchsurfing gatherings in Zurich. The people who I have met are very cool, so welcoming and spoke so highly of their couch surfing experiences that I would love to meet more couch surfers. I hope I can host some couch surfing travellers. I had only positive experiences with couchsurfing and I always try to encourage others to couch surf.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed in Strasbourgh and Toulouse and loved it. I had great hosts, and enjoyed what they added to my trip - not only someone to talk to, but someone knowledgable about the area and about the couch surfing project.

Interests

when I am not looking after 3 kids I enjoy grabbing a coffee with friends, baking, going for a walk in beautiful Switzerland, making travel plans, or watching good comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen so many things I consider amazing since coming to Europe a year ago - so many historic attractions such as Notre Dame, Buckingham Palace, the Colluseum, the Anne Frank house but nothing impresses me more than the natural beauty of the mountains such as the Matterhorn or the view from Mt. Fort, or Mt. Santis.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I can share...a great cookie recipe, some camp songs, crafts from recycled materials, things 5 year olds like doing, ...
Things I would like to learn...French!, how to not use facebook so much, how to become a better skiier, how to cook and just about anything useful!
