Hello all you people out there! I am Sten, a Dutchy currently traveling Asia, and would like to get to know the people and get to know the countries better.

I am easy going, calm and I try to be friendly, genuine and respectful. Also I really dislike to be intrusive or to be a disturbance or be treated like so. It is not my house, so also not my rules (and that also goes the other way around). That does not mean I don't like a good laugh, want to have fun, enjoy a good meal and enjoy a good drink, with even a fancy dance once in a while.

I really like music, movies, football, (craft) beer, whisky (or other good liquor), festivals, arts, getting lost, new stuff and "philosophizing" after the whisky.
My music taste is wide; from soul to techno and from metal to hip hop. If I drank a few, I can (and mostly will) dance to everything, which does not necessarily mean I like the music.. Music Festivals I like, because they are concerts and dance parties in one..
For movies I also have a wide taste, and although I like a good explosion or two I would say I mostly dislike the blockbusters. Too predictable. Give me a good story, good actors and some good shots and I am happy. Anime I also like, as well as the martial arts and the B movies (hard ticket to hawaii! the best B movie ever).

I am a biochemist, took a (long) break from my work to travel. But normally I work in the lab and try to work out new ways of implementing and using biological resources for new materials, like bio-plastics.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope that couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to meet local people, which can share tips, sights and their culture with me. The so called gems and secrets in their neighbourhood.
And I am always in to share some good food and a beer. Also the copmanionship and a break from hostels/hotels is a big plus.

Music, Movies, and Books

All sorts of music, from funk to reggae to hard rock to hiphop and dance. A little alternative. A tribe called quest, common, justice, andy c, peter tosh, morning again, deftones, queens of the stone age, bb king, hendrix, sharon jones, morcheeba, etc. etc.

I am a big movie lover and watch a lot of movies at home. I like especially the classics and film theater movies. To hard to name..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was a long time coming but I finally got my diving license, after done "to many" other dives.. Not really amazing but I like.
