Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started my Euro tour this year (2017). I followed media reports about societal changes like refugee influx and realized neither mass media nor alternative media provide a really reliable picture of what is going on.

So i decided to travel around myself. First around Europe. Later other destinations like Russia and Iran.

I was born in Europe and am dedicated to its culture but find it a shame to not have travelled Europe to have an idea of my own continent, the quite different cultures on this small continent.

So i pick a new destination every couple of months and integrate it into my job life. I have no real idea what i will experience. Travels into the blue. But there is always hope to meet nice locals and stay in touch with them / build up friendships.

My usual travel pattern is 5 days per destination / country (weekend + weekdays) to get a first impression of the general life.

This takes time and i am amused to see other couchsurfers in their early 20s having travelled up to 20 countries. I wonder how long they stayed there. I saw more borders than my travel list has countries.

Usually i'm a gentle and polite person, exploring countries in an open minded still critical way.

And as such not only my nice-list grows, but also my shit-list.
