About Me

Hi I'm Steph, I'm 38 and currently part way through a solo round the world trip. So far since August 2016 I have travelled through Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Borneo, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, and I am currently in Australia.

I wish to spend around 6 weeks in Australia and 6 weeks in New Zealand. This is far more feasible if I couchsurf.

Not only for budgeting reasons though. I also think it'll be a great way to see places that only local people would know about, to meet new and interesting people, and make new friends along the way.

I love music, books, films, travel, dinner, drinks and skiing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I thought it would be a more financially beneficial way to travel the world, but more importantly it would be a great way to meet new and interesting people along the way. People who live in the places I'm visiting who might be able to tell me about hidden gems that are off the tourist trail. Make new friends, and get handy hints and tips that aren't in the guidebooks!

Interests

I love music above all things. Nothing makes me happier (or sadder, depending on the music!). It evokes such emotion in me like nothing else does. I love watching live bands and go to gigs all the time. Love reading, watching films. Love to go for dinner and to cook. Love to go for drinks with friends new and old. I like walking, swimming and cycling. I love to travel. Been on a few solo holidays and now decided to take the plunge and spend at least a year travelling on my own. I enjoy my own company and I really enjoy the freedom of travelling solo. All my friends have children now, except me. So I think it's a good time to go and enjoy my freedom! I've got some friends and relatives dotted around the globe so I'll be paying them all a visit on the way!

Music, Movies, and Books

Gosh I could be here all day!! My favourite books are The Time Traveller's Wife, A Million Little Pieces, My Friend Leonard, The Wasp Factory to name just a few. I also love travel memoirs.

Films: I literally don't even know where to start! Anything except action or sci fi would sum it up quickest!

Music: very eclectic taste! Stone Roses are in my favourites of all time along with The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, The Beach Boys, Radiohead, Nirvana, Kings of Leon, Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse, Super Furry Animals, Doves, I could go on and on. I also love folk, classical, dance, anything except death metal and not a fan of much country and western but wouldn't dismiss anything. I love being introduced to new stuff and adding to my ever expanding collection!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a sky dive at 14,000 feet. I loved it, it was the best thing I have done... so far!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach English I guess? And I play a little piano so could try to teach that?
I want to learn about other cultures and if needed, help people where possible.
