About Me

I just finished my 6th year of teaching math and coaching a dance team through my high school in the suburbs of Chicago. I own my first condo, and pick up odd jobs (over the summer especially) so I can afford to travel. I love math (mainly Geometry/Trigonometry) to the point where I named my cat Fibonacci. I love meeting new people while traveling solo, whether I am in Hawaii, New Orleans, Italy or just at a music festival, I love meeting others who have a positive outlook and love having fun without it being too costly or stressful. I love to cook, even though I do not know all that much. The smell of garlic brings an immediate smile to my face. I love to eat, drink wine, talk for hours, watch movies, or just sit in silence and look out at something beautiful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My best friend's family moved from Poland about 20 years ago. They told me they have offered their home to couch surfing since they lived in the US. Once I heard about it and how it is a great way to meet amazing people and have incredible experiences, I decided to try it for my upcoming trip!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite band is Death Cab For Cutie, but my interested in music is wide. First 10 that come to mind; The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Local Natives, Radiohead, Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes, Gary Clark Jr., Sufjan Stevens

Movies: (Mix of intense thinkers and super silly comedy) Donnie Darko, Black Swan, Drive, Step Brothers, Kill Bill, Old School, Into the Wild

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to Italy alone for two months never having traveled, wrote an extensive blog that included music and photos.

Teach, Learn, Share

Dance: If your lower back is bothering you, open up your hips and glutes (deep lunges, pigeon pose, chair pose with one leg balanced on supporting thigh...I'll teach you )

Math (simplified): The Fibonacci sequence is simple. It starts with 0 and 1. Every number that follows is the sum of the two previous numbers 0+1 = 1 1+1 =2 2+1 = 3 3+2 = 5 and so on. If you then take numbers of the sequence and create a ratio with a number divided by its previous number (within the sequence... example 3/2, 5/3, 8/5, 13/8, etc) the decimal approximation will get closer and closer to the golden ratio, or phi approx. 1.618. Almost everything we find aesthetically beautiful in this world fits that ratio.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will help clean up of course, help cook or just cook for them (the best I can), willing and ready to drink wine, open to learning anything they will teach me about the home/city they love, and I will do the same in return. I am always up for conversation.
