About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life to the fullest

ABOUT ME

My friends would say that I am fun-loving and adventurous, reliable, and punctual. I have a good sense of humour, and I am pretty chill about most things. I like to do my best to lead a healthy and sustainable life, which means eating well (locally and organically), exercising, and minimizing my impact on the earth as much as possible (don't look at all the flights). I do have some food allergies (dairy, gluten, and I'm vegetarian - well, I am at home, but I will eat fish when I have to). Oh, and I don't smoke.

PHILOSOPHY

Still working on that one. I'd say mainly "do unto others" and "life is a journey, not a destination."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far it has been limited: 1 cs experience in Tokyo, but I hope to host others soon.

Interests

I love the theatre - performing, working backstage, and watching it. I am a 200 hour certified yoga instructor, so obviously yoga has become an important part of my life. Meeting new people and listening to their travel stories is always amazing. I love food, and thank goodness, I also love cooking. The love of cooking started when I was about 20, and I think is a direct result of my allergies. I HAD to learn to cook or eating was going to be a real pain in the butt. Before that I never had any interest in cooking. In fact, I actually told my home ec. teacher that I didn't need to learn to cook because I was going to have a personal chef (ah, those days before reality...). I love nature walks and hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a book worm, and so I've read a lot. I enjoy Margaret Atwood (except "Edible Woman" - I didn't like that) and Timothy Findley (especially "Not Wanted on the Voyage"). I am a huge fan of Shakespeare, Jane Austin, and Oscar Wilde. I also love Agatha Christie. And..., well my boyfriend calls me a book anaconda because I devour books, so I'll just go with that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think what always seems to impress me most is nature and the ingenuity of mankind. There have been a few times when I have been moved almost to tears, or I at least have a huge grin on my face, just from looking at some amazing view (for example in the Lakes District in Northern England, or when seeing Stone Henge for the first time).
My exchange experience in Rouen, France was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved having the opportunity to live in another country and to experience the culture first hand. I also met amazing people (my fellow students) and made life-long friends. I believe that no matter where you are, the people you are with can make all the difference!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have some random agricultural knowledge that I am always willing to share. Such as: an adult sheep has 8 teeth on its bottom jaw and none on the top. Like cows, they are ruminants, this means they chew their cud (aka stuff they've already swallowed). It means their breath is not always very fresh.
I am a certified hatha yoga instructor and am always willing to do yoga with people.
I love to learn about different cultures (thus the travelling) and people. Tell me your stories!
