Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing is the best idea ever! I am still in the middle of my vacation, but I just have to say everyone a part of this community is so helpful and generous.. I cannot wait to meet my next host!

Interests

I like the outdoors. I enjoy both the mountains and the sea. When I'm in the mountains, I enjoy climbing and skiing. When I am by the sea, I enjoy snorkeling.

I am also a proponent of biking. I gave up my car about 5 years ago. It felt like it was such a burden, both to the environment and to me, to own such a machine. Since giving it up, I haven't looked back (much). Sure, I would love a car to take me to Tahoe or to the beach, but what I gain from not having a car far surpasses the inconvenience of having one. This past summer, I even took a trip for the first time by bike to the Russian River (about 80 mi from Berkeley). What an experience that was!

I support the community in every way I can. Only after a community is strengthened can bigger changes in this world be made. I don't necessarily think that communities need to get together and rally against all local authorities. Small, but meaningful actions like community dinners or community gardens can make just as big an impact.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I admit, I enjoy a mindless comedy every once in awhile. I love anything Will Farrell is in. I am a big fan of Spanish movies. I recently saw The Sea Inside. I guess the movie I choose to watch that night really depends on my mood.

Music: I love to dance. So any music with a good beat is my cup of tea.

Books: I love Vonnegut. But currently, I have been on a scientific history kick. Currently, I am ready Chaos by James Gleick.
