ABOUT ME

It almost feels like as if it was just yesterday when I was alone on a plane, not knowing what to expect but exited for what the future had for me. After studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark for a semester, I am finally back to the sunny California with tons of memories, a whole new perspective, and of course, lots of stories to share.

Even though I just came back a month ago, I am already missing Denmark a lot. Danish pastries from my neighborhood, 30 minute bike ride (both ways) to school everyday, and weekend foodie adventures are the moments that remain in my mind. The experience was fun. But more than fun, it was valuable.

Anyway, let's take a few steps back and begin with an introduction. My name is Stephanie and I was born in Hong Kong. I had been living in Hong Kong until I started college in United States 4 years ago. I’m currently a final year student at UCLA, majoring in Communication Studies. And I have just finished my study abroad program at University of Copenhagen in 2014. To be honest, as a senior year student, I don't really have plans in my head on what to do after graduation at the moment (which is also the most frequently asked question I get). Maybe I'll get a job here? Maybe I'll go back to Hong Kong? Maybe I'll buy a one-way ticket to a country I have never been? Maybe... Who knows? If we had our entire life planned out, where would the excitement be? I believe if it's meant to be, it will find it's way.

As of my interest, I like traveling a lot (as if it's not obvious enough already). I like photography. I use film cameras most of the time, because I love the feeling of never knowing how the image looks like until you get the film back, which is not only the most wonderful, but also the most painful experience. It's all about the surprise. But I've recently bought a dslr and I can't wait to try it out! I guess living alone in the states has its perks, I was forced to learn how to cook.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend of mine told me about Couchsurfing and she invited me to do it together when we were in Alaska. The trip wouldn't be better without all these amazing hosts. After the trip I signed up and became a member of CS. I thought it was a great idea and I wanted to be a part of this wonderful community too. Since I love traveling alone, this seems to be the best way to be a part of good karma. You stay with me, I'll stay with you.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Being able to watch the English Premier League alone at Old Trafford, chanting with the other 75,000 Manchester United fans in the stadium was one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life. The moment when I got to get autographs and take pictures with Louis van Gaal, Robin van Persie, Falcao and Mata was so surreal (wish I got Rooney's though).

I'm really into cooking and food. I can try my best to cook you authentic Chinese cuisine with whatever ingredients I have. I can teach you Chinese or Cantonese if you're interested in them.
