About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling the world to see unique places, meet vibrant people, eat great food, and enjoy art :-)

ABOUT ME

I'm a writer with my first book being published on September 24. I enjoy traveling and meeting the local people of the city or town I’ve traveled to. They are the ones who give each destination its color and personality. The touristy stuff, like visiting landmarks, is necessary, but I believe the heart of a city is in its citizens and you’ll usually find me going for walks or at a bar trying to strike up conversation with locals. I’m all about making connections.

Balance is important to me: if I’ve vanished, leaving my drink at the bar, it’s because I went off to read or write in solitude. I’ll pay the tab before I disappear however. And you can finish my drink haha.

I want to lose myself in the world and its beautiful people.

PHILOSOPHY

Love life, love others, and love yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I meet with CSers when I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met my friend Hansel through CS and we've become best friends. Whenever I go to Puerto Rico, I stay with him and his family (his mother treats me like a son). I've had nothing but fun hosting so far and will continue to host when my schedule permits me to.

Interests

Literature, writing, cinema, the arts, fashion, sports, food.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movies are the epic kind, movies like Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, 300, The Departed. These are movies that spend time on character development, context and take the viewer on a journey.

I love hip hop, jazz, salsa, and soul.

This Boy's Life (Tobias Wolff), The Second Death of Unica Aveyano (Ernesto Mestre-Reed), Just Kids (Patti Smith). My book, BUILDING MATERIAL: THE MEMOIR OF A PARK AVENUE DOORMAN, being published on September 24 by HarperCollins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I realized my childhood dream of visiting Paris. It was my dream destination after it captured my imagination through pictures and movies. I figured, "I'm 32 - what am I waiting for?" I booked a flight and spent 9 days in Paris and it was so magical to me. The people, the streets, the history. I visited again in 2017 and loved it just as much as the first time. I’m sure Paris and I will continue our relationship for years to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anything related to English. Reading and writing are my passion.

I'd love to learn how to cook different foods from different cultures.
