My name is Stephen and I'm from the United States near Portland, Oregon. I've only just begun my quest to travel around the world. I'm a firefighter EMT and my job allows me a lot of free time to travel. My goal when visiting a new country is to not only see the 'must do attractions', but get a feel for the true cultural aspect of it. I love meeting new and interesting people that can teach me about their lives and help me understand their culture. I consider myself a very open minded person with strong empathetic qualities. I try not to take life too seriously and enjoy experiencing everything I can.

I would love to enjoy the place I'm visiting with the most authentic experience possible. I'm not against doing touristy things or checking off must see attractions but I'm searching for something more. Locals have a full understanding of their city and can advise on the best spots to be. Not only is insider information invaluable, but the company of somebody foreign gives you insight into their culture and helps you grow as a person as well. I'm not expecting to take up somebody's time if they don't have it. I can absolutely spend time alone or find something to explore but I'm definitely open to someone joining me as well.
