ABOUT ME

I grew up in the woods in a small town in Massachusetts that you probably haven't heard of. I've lived in the Bay Area, Providence, RI, and Chicago, IL. Now I live in New Orleans, where I drive a pedicab and play music. Drumset/percussion is my primary focus, but I dabble with various stringed instruments and write songs. I love meeting new people, seeing new things, hearing new sounds.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything's worth trying at least once.

Keep an open heart and an open mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing & hosting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a week hitchhiking down the California coast - hiking, picking fruit, and marveling at the Pacific Ocean. I made my way North to Portland and Seattle for some more West Coast exploring recently. Couchsurfing has shown me how warm and open people can be, and how quickly complete strangers can feel like trusted friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Pan's Labyrinth, Harold and Maude, The Shawshank Redemption, A Hard Day's Night, The Graduate, Up...

Books: I'm working on 2666 by Bolaño right now and I'm loving it. Moby-Dick, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Mrs. Dalloway, and Song of Solomon are some favorites

Music: There isn't much I don't like. I love all kinds of rock (especially from the 60s), indie, tropicalia, Afrobeat, folk, blues, Hindustani classical, noise, hip-hop, high-life, reggae, New Orleans funk and brass bands, and jazz. Some of my favorites: The Beatles, Charles Mingus, Caetano Veloso, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Talking Heads, Fela Kuti, Tony Allen

Teach, Learn, Share

I play drums and a few other instruments - I'd be happy to share some hand drumming techniques and rhythms. I'd love to learn about music from people I meet around the world, and I could use any help I can get learning some languages (French, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic)!
