About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to leave the world a better place than I found it, and have as much fun as possible in the process!
ABOUT ME
I'm pretty mellow most of the time. I like to be creative and enjoy just about every form of art. I can be pensive, and my girlfriend says I'm such a hippie but you probably wouldn't know it by looking at me. Oh, I'm left-handed too. Just thought I would throw that in.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm always on a spiritual journey...the one thing I know is that I don't want to live my life selfishly, or waste my time on this earth with the things that don't matter like worry, excess material things, and negativity. I tend to look at both points of view on pretty much everything, to the degree that sometimes I can't even make my mind up about an issue! I try to follow a few basic precepts in my daily life: do unto others as you would have them do to you, turn the other cheek, and walk in the light that you're given. I believe that honesty, tempered with grace is necessary for healthy personal relationships. Oh, and "all you need is love." :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm just starting here so that has yet to be seen but I enjoy hosting and just want people to feel comfortable and at peace when they stay in my home. I also like the idea of showing people around Birmingham, especially the Southside area where I live.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with families on a youth acting tour in high school. Post graduate, I stayed with a host family when I was an acting intern at Lost Nation Theatre in Montpelier, Vermont one summer. They were such nice folks--they had a few acres on their land that I would walk around in the little time off that I had. One morning when I looked out the back window there was a moose running through their yard! That was a cool thing for me to experience, having lived in the south my entire life.
Interests
I love to write and read and play guitar, act...loooove music and playing records on my stereo, and I'm always up for anything creative. So far this year I've been involved with a short film which will be showing at this year's Sidewalk Moving Picture festival here in Birmingham, as well as acted in a local production of Equus. I do some hobby photography as well, practice Ashtanga yoga and like to hike when it's not too hot. (or cold)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I played in a band once that had a gig in a small place in Athens, GA. While we were playing, Michael Stipe came in and ate dinner, then shook our hands on a set break, told us how much he enjoyed our set, and bought a CD! This was with a singer/songwriter named Jeremy Meyer who has left Birmingham but we had a good run of it while he lived here.
Teach, Learn, Share
Being a massage therapist I know a lot about personal muscle maintenance. Anyone staying with me is welcome to ask me questions relating to these aspects of personal health. I can talk to you about body awareness and mechanics, stretches, etc. I think I'm also good at talking with people about how to communicate with others about difficult subjects. I'm not sure why, but it happens a lot. I also used to teach guitar so I may be able to give a few pointers if you already have a working knowledge but want to pick up a few tricks.
I like to learn about anything I don't know about. Unless it has to do with math. That's a lot of ground to cover so the possibilties are limitless, I suppose.
