About Me

I am a wanna-be traveler who has lived in Memphis his whole life. I have went on several cruises but I want to spend more time seeing, experiencing, and doing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about this site and honestly it seems like a great way to break out of my comfort zone and travel. Who knows, one day maybe I will open up my couch too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh I could talk forever here. First, books! Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, anything by Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, I love Neil Gaiman too. Really also enjoy some Brian Lumley or Stephen King (especially The Stand and Needful Things), not to mention Raymond E. Feist or some old Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. In general, Sci-Fi and Fantasy are my two first loves, but I also quite enjoy suspense, thrillers, well-done horror, and Epic fantasy. I have even been known to enjoy a murder mystery or two.

Movies! Lord of the Rings again, extended editions please, be still my heart. Gladiator was a great film. I have been a James Bond fan since I was a child, but don't pigeon hole me. I also quite enjoy Wes Anderson and Grand Budapest Hotel is one of the best movies I have seen in recent years. I love Star Wars (and I don't completely hate the prequels, we can discuss this in depth if you like) and summer blockbusters but I also truly enjoy mind screw movies, independant films, and beautiful documentaries. Check out "Hot Sugar's Cold World" .

That was an amazing segue into music, because I LOVE Hot Sugar. Who is hot sugar, do you ask? Just look up his music on spotify. Go on, i'll wait. .... see?! Isn't that amazing? Other than him I love a wide, wide swath of music. Some of my favorites? Ludovico Einaudi, Tool, 90s music of all kinds, Estas Tonne (check out 'Internal Flight' and thank me later), Max Richter, A Perfect Circle (yes I am a Maynard fan), Erik Satie, Within Temptation, Bjork, Alt-J, Blink-182, CocoRosie, the list goes on. Honestly, I love so much music these are barely the tip of the iceberg.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I honestly don't know of anything amazing that I have done. I guess I am hoping my amazing things are still ahead of me. I have always tried to be a good friend, and be a listening ear and compassionate voice of loving wisdom whenever I can .

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach : I can teach you how to listen to people. Most people think they know how to listen, but let me assure you that most of what we do as people is wait for someone to finish so we can fit in our side/our point/our perspective. I can teach you how to listen, and empathize. You will be surprised what a difference it can make in your life. OR I can also teach you tech stuff. I know computers and cell phones and electronics VERY well. I know the internet and all kinds of techy information as I have been involved with tech all my life and I will gladly share it with you.

Learn: Honestly, I really want to learn whatever you have to show me. Do you have a special talent? I want to see it! Can you cook? Oh please show me. Can you speak another language fluently? Let me marvel at your eloquence. Are you a scientist? Dazzle me with science! Are you an artist? Let me gaze upon the wonders you have created. Basically, anything you want to share with me, I am eager to see/learn/experience.

Share: What I have is an open mind, an open heart, and a positive attitude. I am honored to be able to interact with other travelers on this journey we all travel, separate but not alone. We can talk about everything, or nothing at all. I enjoy the silence as much as I do anything else.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. I have so many stories. I have not done many amazing things, but I have read much and met so many adventurous people. I have experienced much in my 40 years, and I will share with you as much as you want to hear. Also, what I have to offer more than anything else is a listening ear. You don't know me, but I truly care . I will listen to whatever you have to say, stories or anything, and I can say without flinching that I have the gift of empathy. If you need someone to listen, I will share in whatever you want me to share, and I will respond with kindness and gentle words or, if you prefer, nothing at all. I also know a lot of miscellaneous semi-useless information on a wide variety of topics and we can talk about that too.

Oh... and I do food reviews!
