About Me

Hello! My name is Steve, I’m 30 years old and currently living in London (I’m originally from Hampshire, England).

I'll be travelling across the United States with my partner (Ayumi Saga – also on Couchsurfing) for two months from the beginning of November. It's fair to say our budget is modest, yet despite this we’re aiming to see and experience as much as possible! Ideally we’d like to fully utilize Couchsurfing not only for the obvious economical benefits, but equally to have the opportunity to truly gain insight into what it’s like to be living in America in 2018.

Our itinerary is pretty flexible but essentially we intend to fly in to New York, then make a snake trail across the states on Greyhound coaches via Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah/Colorado, Arizona and finally California. We aim to see and experience as much as possible along the way!

We’re only recently started using our Couchsurfing accounts so unfortunately we’ve yet to really gain any feedback or reviews, however we’d love to chat with any potential would be hosts, so please get in touch if you feel we might hit it off!

Cheers,
Steve

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To enable me to meet amazing people, to share great stories, and to see as much of the world as possible.

Interests

I moved to London at the beginning of 2017 in order to escape my bland little hometown of which I'd grown increasingly frustrated with. Over the past two years I've enjoyed discovering the true potential of what this city has to offer, yet despite London's many charms I once again find myself craving that next big adventure.

I enjoy running and try to keep fit and healthy; occasionally I'll enter the odd race or two although I wouldn't say I'm all that competitive.
Other interests include music, reading, history, gaming and of course travel. I'm particularly interested in learning about the different ways in which we all live, and how we all came to be where we are today. Apologies if that sounds very vague, but it's a hard to thing to put into words... I guess you could say that I'm interested in human behavior and cultural diversity.
I'm reasonably well traveled however most of my trips have been small, isolated holidays, with the one exception being when I backpacked around East/South East Asia for six months in 2014 (best year of my life!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Over the last year or so I've been listening to a lot of Bruce Springsteen (perfect for our upcoming trip!) , however more typically I enjoy UK Indie/Alternative Rock, Noughtie's Punk Pop/Nu Metal, "Old School" Power Rock Anthems (Boston, anyone?) and of course plenty of Bowie. To be honest I have a pretty varied taste and can enjoy most music, provided it's not commercial pop from the likes of Beyonce, Justin Bieber et al. (just lately I've been enjoying early 80's Japanese City Pop - Check out this tune and tell me it isn't amazing..! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YixAD9GIAuY)

Favourite movies include
- Lost In Translation
- Trainspotting
- Midnight In Paris
- Grand Budapest Hotel
- Forest Gump
- Donnie Darko

My reading trends are often random and go through spells whereby I read more or less, however two of my favourite authors would be Haruki Murakami and Alex Garland.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hiked to the summit of Mt. Fuji!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

- We can cook!! (Well.. At least my partner Ayumi can!)

Aha, okay well in all seriousness I'm not sure what to put here.. We're two easy going, friendly individuals from two very different parts of the world, together creating a rich and varied blend of culture. We're keen to explore and discover as much as possible, and we hope to one day repay the kindness of any would-be-hosts by opening our homes to them in the near future.

We'd love it if you'd simply allow us to experience your world for a few days.. Show us what you love about your home, and why!?
