About Me
Howdy!
I'm Steve, 29 from Sydney.
I'm about to embark on a solo trip through the US (after a 3 week trip through Cuba, the US and Mexico with the fam) and move to Canada where I have a year long work visa organised.
I've previously lived abroad in London where I was based for 2 years after I did a 4 month trip through Europe. I started off the trip travelling with my sister before going it solo after 2 and a half months. During this time we went to 6 music festivals in 5 different countries, Running of the bulls, Oktoberfest, the London Olympics and other events.
After my 2 years in London I had a year long work visa for Germany organised where I lived in Stuttgart and Berlin for a few months.
When in London I started working in bars for the first time and now I manage bars back home in Sydney so will probably look to continue that work in Canada.
I'm a big sports fan and can't wait to see a hockey, basketball, baseball and American football match in my time overseas.
Like all of us on here I have a massive love for travelling which first started when I did a 3 week trip to Vietnam and Cambodia when I was 20. I'm super excited to embark on my trip which starts mid March and I'm looking forward to seeing what is out here on Couchsurfing for when I embark on my solo trip.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm about to embark on a family trip to Cuba, Mexico and parts of the U.S with the family but after that 3 week trip has finished I will be solo travelling all through out the U.S and Canada.
I start off solo travelling early April in Dallas and the plan is to travel throughout Texas, onto the West Coast, fly to Colorado at some point and then up to Boston, New York and the like before heading into Canada through Toronto. It's all very unplanned at the moment so alot of the trips and lengths of stays will be fairly spontaneous. I have a year long work visa for Canada sorted so the plan is to a bit of travel throughout before finding a place to settle for work.
I'm on couchsurfing to just see what's out there and what other options I have while I solo travel. When I travelled throughout Europe solo, I only did it for a short period of time and was mainly staying at hostels so was thinking of trying something a little different and meeting people a little differently along the way.
If you have any advice, are travelling through these places around the same time, have a couch I can crash on while we hang out in your town or any other info please send me a message and it'll be great to get in touch!
Cheers

Music, Movies, and Books
My music and movie taste are very wide ranging and changes alot due to the mood i'm in really.
I was one of those kids who got massively into the Harry Potter books when I was younger but who am I kidding I still love it.
I'll always love the book The Beach by Alex Garland. Everyone who is obsessed with travelling will find themselves quite drawn to that book and I found that to be true espescially as i picked up that book in a little store in Cambodia and was reading it through my travels there.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Roadtripped for a music festival from London all the way to Croatia, driving through multiple countries, stopping in ridiculously picturesque places along the way.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good bloddy company! haha
I've never done couchsurfing before so i'm fairly new to the whole thing but i'm looking at it as a way to meet new people along the way on my travels and meeting a lot of like minded individuals. A lot of my best mates are people I met while travelling so I'm super excited to meet many people once again.
Having a place to crash is just an added bonus if it happens.
