About Me

I like to eat, drink, laugh, and explore new places. I'm pretty self sufficient, even though I'm not fluent in another language I am quite happy to wander round and try to figure out where I am and who I'm going to meet. Getting lost is just the start of another story, and it's a persons stories that makes them interesting.
I currently teach high school chemistry, and I'm also working on my PhD in science education.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't think it's possible to know people by visiting tourist sites. The best way to explore a new place is to hang out with people, drink what they're drinking (I'm pretty adventurous here) , eat what they're eating (I am a vegetarian, so I won't eat everything)...and try to make them laugh (which is a great challenge when you don't know the language). It would be an honor to spend some time in a host's home, and I would hope that I could share as much of my culture as they could share with me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly I like classic rock, but I think I have a somewhat varied taste.
I will watch most movies, some of my favorites include Rocknrolla, Layer Cake, Go, Shaun of The Dead, and What If
I like science fiction such as, West of Eden, Difference Engine, Diamond Age

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked up Mt. Evans (14,265 ft/4,348 m), in Colorado. I'm not sure how impressive that really is, considering the day before I tried to hike up Grey's Peak (14,278 ft/4.252 m) and turned around after making it 13,000 ft . Had problems with acclimatization, lack of water, too much sun, basically just a lack of planning on my part. Probably should have quit then and there, but
