About Me

Happy go lucky Kiwi guy leaving the safety of my comfort zone to learn about the world and myself. Having traveled for two months with friends up from Argentina to Peru, I am now solo traveling and have only the vaguest of plans and future directions. I'm making it up as I go along.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet locals, get their recommendations for foods and books, and hopefully to stay in some neat spots.

Interests

My economics background leads me to be intensely interested in countries' political histories - and the impact this has had on the worldview of modern citizens. I love really understanding a country from this perspective, and Latin America certainly is a rich subject!

Otherwise, I love to bike, hike, swim, and play ice hockey. I read a lot, and enjoy keeping up with global news. Big food enthusiast, discovering a countries cuisine and liquors is one of my favourite parts of travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm currently on a massive reading binge, particularly Latin American authors (Neruda, Llosa, Marquez, Borges). Usually I'm a spy novel and sci-fi enthusiast, plus there's always a classic I should have read years ago. Please recommend me any of your favorite novels or history books.

Currently listening to: Sigur Ros (always), Tame Impala, and London Grammar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Torres del Paine was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and an experience I'll never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn all about your worldview, your opinions, and your pride in your country. And to help you cook and learn all your unique culinary tricks.

What I Can Share with Hosts

One of my main rules for life is 'leave them better than you found them' and I intend to apply this to hosts as well. Be this simply through good memories, teaching each other something, or helping around your house, my goal is to leave you absolutely stoked that you invited me into your home!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Peru, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

New Zealand
