About Me

Hello everyone!

My name is Steve Anthony Maravillo, I am 19 years old, born and raised in Southern California, but am currently established in Granada, Spain until August of 2019. I consider myself to be very outgoing and social with people of all types, as I consider myself to be quite extroverted. I have a very open mind when it comes to networking and meeting other people that speak different languages and abide to cultures that are different than that of myself. In my home country, I am a third-year undergraduate student at the University of California, San Diego pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Family Medicine and Public Health. In Spain, I am currently a foreign exchange student at the University of Granada studying at the Faculty of Psychology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking to establish adequate networks with people throughout cities and countries of personal travel interest to receive the most immersive, local experience possible during my travels throughout Western and Eastern Europe. Through couch surfing, I hope to meet individuals that will guide me in my understanding of the language and culture of the location(s) I hope to visit. I have many travel experiences that I'd love to share with other individuals and I am always up for a good conversation on world travel/experiences!

Interests

  • cultural immersion
  • learning languages
  • meeting new people

Music, Movies, and Books

My all-time favorite music genre is easily alternative rock. I grew up in a relatively quiet suburb in Southern California where there was an immense wave of rock, alternative rock and garage rock. These genres will forever remind me of where I come from and who I truly am, and I am always happy to share my music interests with everyone~

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most amazing accomplishment is having the opportunity spend a year in Granada, Spain as a foreign exchange student from California. I am the first in my familial generation to live outside of the U.S. for this amount of time, and am very humbled to have this opportunity.

Teach, Learn, Share

I spent the previous year at my home university, University of California: San Diego, teaching Spanish for intermediate/advanced learners. As of now, I am scheduled to continue teaching language, with English being the focus language, to Spanish students ages 17-18; therefore, I am always happy to have a language exchange with anyone I come across with!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm currently reaching my 9th month abroad in Spain, and have had the opportunity to travel to 9 countries as of now. I have loads of wonderful and life-changing experiences from each and every one of my travels that I am happy to share with when it comes to interacting with hosts. Additionally, I speak four languages, inclusive of English, Spanish, Portuguese and French (very intermediate) and am always up for a language exchange with anyone trying to learn either of those languages, particularly hosts in this situation.
